Dany Danino draws, paints and engraves, but above all constructs through a dense network of endless lines, shapes and knots. Oscillating between figuration and abstraction, between control and spontaneity, his works emerge from a process of accumulating and transforming images drawn from a personal atlas. Through superimposition, these motifs merge into a complex graphic fabric, where the eye moves ceaselessly. He leaves room for uncertainty and explores the limits of representation through gesture, as well as the nuances of the visible and of emotion. This proliferation of detail and this tension of the gaze resonate with the traditions of the Old Netherlands, where the multiplicity of scenes composes teeming spaces. In Danino’s work, this density becomes internal: his compositions function as mental maps, where the line organises a controlled disorder and opens up a field of visual experience between saturation and movement.
